Mary

Head Masseur, Complementary Therapist

I am a qualified complementary therapist, practising a range of therapies including Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic foot massage, Indian head massage, natural face lift massage and ear candling.

I have my own therapy practice in my home near Wimbledon where I treat clients. I am also a qualified teacher and I teach various complementary courses in the UK and abroad.

My personal journey began with my own series of niggling health issues such as ear infections, sinus problems, mild hair loss and digestive disorders. As I explored the world of complementary therapies, I realised the potential to clear up my problems from the root, rather than constantly addressing the symptoms.

I discovered Indian Head Massage in 1998, when I met a blind Indian man called Narendra Mehta, who came to the UK in 1970's to study as a physiotherapist. When he realised that Indian Head Massage was unknown in the UK, he developed his own unique method called 'Champissage' ('champi' means 'head massage' and the word 'shampoo' is derived from this).

Champissage is a seated treatment incorporating massage of the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face as well as energy balancing. It is a wonderful de-stressing treatment that requires no undressing, making it ideally suited to the workplace. I was lucky enough to study with Narendra Mehta and to get the opportunity to teach with him as well.

I have writtten 2 complementary therapy books to date; "Indian Head Massage in Essence" & "Ear Candling in Essence". Both books are currently being revised and updated.

I once heard a quote which really resonated with me and it was 'Find a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life". I vowed that one day I would feel this way about my work and I can now honestly say that I do.
