Learn the basics of jazz guitar in this 8 week course with our Jazz Man - Panama.

What will you learn?

You will begin by learning the fundamentals of playing a guitar, which will include finger strengthening exercises - yes, your fingers will have to do some push ups! The learning of the correct posture and positioning for both yourself and the guitar. He will also teach you the organisation of the fretboard. You will then progress to learning essential chords and scales, getting to grips with simple music theory and managing the challenge of improvisation.

Once you have mastered the basic techniques, Panama will teach and guide you through a selection of classic jazz standards including Autumn Leaves, Stormy Weather, Misty, Willow Weep, Me and Mean To Me, Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, My Funny Valentine, All Blues, Night and Day, Lullaby of Birdland, Black Orpheus, Dindi, One Note Samba, and Girl From Ipanema. Students are also welcome to bring in suggestions for pieces to be worked on, whether it be jazz, rock, pop or classical repertoires.

The lessons will focus on practical playing and encouraging interaction with the rest of the group. After each session, Panama will share tips and techniques for you to practice in your own time. So come and join and share in Panama's passion and skill.
